Neighborhood & Area
The Subdivision
The subdivision is located within the Southwest Hills of Downtown Portland, providing regional views of the cities’ tallest buildings, the Willamette River, and mountain ranges to the north and east.
This is a prestigious area of stately homes, set back into forested hills, and surrounded by quiet nature walks, jogging paths, and nearby hillside exercise steps. Walk or bike to downtown Portland, the South Park Blocks and Portland State University.
The Neighborhood & Schools
The West Hills neighborhood enjoys top-ranked public and private schools, including; Ainsworth Elementary, West Sylvan Middle School, and Lincoln High School, the #2 rated high school in Oregon. Lincoln High, the 2nd oldest high school in the Western USA, is considered a “classic college preparatory school” by its principal and earned a silver ranking in the US News & World Reports 2010 “Americas Best High Schools” survey. Lincoln High offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Located nearby are a number of prestigious private schools including ST. Thomas Moore, St. Mary's Academy, the NW Chinese Academy and the French American International School just to name a few.
The City
The City Lights-Portland subdivision is located adjacent to Portland State University (PSU) campus and to Portland’s largest employer within city limits, Oregon Health & Science University. The Portland streetcar runs through the PSU area and connects downtown with the Pearl District, NW Portland, South Waterfront as well as the Central East-side and Rose Quarter.
Walk to the Portland Art Museum, Oregon Historical Society, Chinese Gardens and other Portland landmarks. The area is built up and there are very limited home building sites remaining in the West Hills area, making this subdivision not only unique, but “one-of-a-kind”.
Private & Gated Community
The City Lights-Portland subdivision is located in a private and gated community, just south of Portland State University. The community is accessed via a private road and electronic gate, located off SW Cardinell Drive and uphill of SW 12th Street. The unobstructed City Lights home sites sit uphill of the established phase I homes. The location affords convenient access to the central business district (CBD), Highway 26, Interstate-5, and Interstate freeways I-84 and 405. The neighborhood consists of upscale single family residences and condominium projects. Due to a shortage of developable land, new construction has been extremely limited in the Southwest Hills, with the exception of custom homes on infill or tear-down lots. This special property is the last of its kind.
